Usual updates on Facebook and Website. No issues this past month.
4. Village Groups Updates
- Community Centre
IMcD committee met RC, as received no follow up from meeting yet. Seemed to be a fact finding mission ie. how often hall is used and how much money in the bank. No mention of community asset transfer.
Internal areas of Village Hall are currently being painted
- LSR /MUGA
Santa & Sleigh lights, huge thanks to IMcD for installation. Plan to buy additional Christmas lights.
Get Active off for 2 weeks, there is still a great turn out despitewinter weather.
Electric bill last month £ 100

Members of church session and other individuals met local architect at church to discuss potential plans. No further update at this time.
New minister – this Sunday 0945 encouraging as many villagers as possible to attend.
- Winter Connections Grant
£ 2000 granted : MUGA hot choc & covered, will put in By The Way that groups are welcome to apply for part, Conditions of grant ; monies need to be used for community – needs to beinclusive, include an activity & Food. Open to All . Suggestion the LBC can use part of the grant, offer use of MUGA. The RC grant staff had been proactively helpful especially Angela and Andrea.
JD - Lighting for Station field path and swing park, when village investment fund next opens. Ducting may already there. Safe walking route to school.
5. Recent flooding / Drainage clearing
Last Friday evening – flooding at Coast. Slurper spotted on the A8
JMcL Finlaystone Burn flooded – complaint made as was requested to be part of ILR
6. Planning Application 24/0463PP - Formation of four flatted dwellings (in retrospect) at ground floor, formation of 2 flatted dwellings at lower ground floor and formation of parking area to serve the flatted development.
CC had made objections to previous application due to limited parking and existing issues with junction – school bus stops here and cars parking in bus stop forcing bus to stop almost at junction of Middlepenny Rd and Main Road.
Further objection submitted due to concerns around number of dwellings and difficulty creating sufficient parking within grounds – particularly as the property lies so close to railway line.
7. Transport Concerns
• A8 roundabout,
Prioritise in the New Year, liase wih MP Alison Taylor
• Speeding
Big Issue in the village still , in particular delivery vans especially at this time of year. JMcL – speed limits in Scotland are to be reduced - 30mph limits being changed to 20mph except trunk roads.
JOB - reduction of 70 and 60s, to 60s and 50s IMcD - Similar measures already in place in Wales didn’t work particularly well.
• Lack of public transport
Keep pushing with RC, new winter timetable in place now Train gap at 4pm rectified.
JOB highlighted lack of trains at rush hour
JMcL – traffic calming in other villages being considered, need to push for LB to be considered in next round of proposed actions.
MC wanted to mention that kissing gate on old Greenock road now repaired
Renfrewshire Villages Pedestrian Road Safety project response from RC
8. Local Cllr updates and monthly reports
Proposed that Factual info re GP, Health Board FAN report info be publicised on FB page
Length of time for prescriptions was rasied relating to LB surgery CB confirmed that this is not solely an LB surgery issue.
9 AOB
o Phil OB has kindly cleared village planters, bulbs ordered for planters, partially delivered. £34 spent
o JG – suggested Should we move east end planter to bottom of Station Road, needs to be considered when changing Autumn / Spring
o Water on Middlepenny Road pavement (then frozen) just uphillfrom traffic lights
Meeting closed 8.55 pm
