Man sought after Dennistoun Road Fire

Police are appealing for information following a wilful fire-raising incident in which took place in Dennistoun Road, Langbank, on Sunday 22 January 2017.

At around 2240 hours, police and emergency services responded to reports of a house on fire. No one was injured during the incident and the cost of the damage is still being determined. Following a joint investigation between Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, the fire is being treated as wilful.

The suspect is described as a white man with an athletic build, who was wearing a black skip hat, dark coloured top, light coloured trousers and appeared to be carrying a long thin object, which is not further described.

Detective Constable Louise Kane, Johnstone CID, is appealing for information. She said:

“We understand that this was a deliberate and targeted incident and we are doing all we can to trace the man responsible for this reckless act.

“We have been carrying out door to door enquiries and are continuing to assess opportunities to capture CCTV images. At this time I am appealing to the public to contact us with any information that they may have.

“The property backs onto a wooded area, which we understand is popular with local dog walkers. You may have witnessed the fire, or perhaps seen someone acting suspiciously on Sunday evening. Any information, no matter how small, will greatly assist our ongoing investigation.
