IT'S BACK!! Village Clean Up Day - Sunday 23rd May
Meet at Station Road Playing fields at 2pm,
or contact us info@langbank-community.com for more details of how you can participate if not free at that time.
As many of you will know Langbank usually has an annual Village Clean Up Day, but unfortunately this couldn't happen last year. Due to the loosening of restrictions it will be possible to hold this event this year and we would be delighted to welcome allow new as well as the regular participants.
As well as breaking into small litter picking teams we are looking for volunteers - young, old and in between - who can help tidy up and prepare the village planters for this year's blooms and also people who can perhaps bring garden loppers, strimmers, etc. to help clearing up some of the overgrown areas around the village.
As well as the clean up day we would encourage those interested to have a look at the Renfrewshire Team Up To Clean Up Facebook page and find out how you can become involved on a more regular basis. There are already a few villagers who have been participating and have been doing their wee bit - and we are very grateful for their community spirit and kindness. They have been supplied with a litter picker and some green bags and have picked up rubbish whilst out and about (you may have noticed these bags filled and awaiting collection by the roadside). One regular litter picker has asked specifically for some extra help on Old Greenock Road as this is particularly bad.
It is sad that we have to clean up after people and it would be so easy to simply get angry with those people who drop the rubbish and the council for not picking it up and therefore we are extremely grateful to those folks who continue to try to make a difference. Thank you.
